Why does this cost so much?
How much do you cost?
We hear this a lot. And unfortunately there is no simple answer. Hopefully we can provide some options/insight for you here.
So how much?
Here are some ball park ranges based on the size of your job:
Small Jobs - $250 to $875 +hst
These are small (<20 ft tall) tree pruning or removal jobs, where there are few or no obstacles that dismantling the tree could hit. Reasonably easy access to the tree/debris for cleanup. Small (<16" diameter) stump grinding jobs fit into this category as well.
Medium Jobs: $750 to $1,500 +hst
Medium (20-40ft tall) Trees to be pruned or removed where there are limited obsticals. Or small trees that have substantial obsticals to be avoided. Easy to more laborious access to materials. Medium (16-24" diameter) Stumps also fall under this catagory.
Large Jobs: $1,300 to $2,200 +hst
This incoporates large ( 40ft +) trees for pruning or removal where this are limited obsticals. Complex medium sized trees may also fit into this catagory. Work done to multiple trees fit into this category as well. Difficult or limited access to material for any size tree may move the job into this category. Large (24"+) stumps will fall into this category as well.
Extra Large and Complex Jobs: $2,000 plus +hst
These types of jobs include not only very tall trees, but also very wide trees. Trees that are complex to remove due to avoiding things on the ground or not being able to access material. Often these jobs mean bringing in special equipment (crane or lift) to work on the tree.
What about Tree Planting? $300 to $1,500 plus +hst
Tree planting includes the cost of the tree purchased from the nursery + the time to plant it. Small trees are faster to plant (and can often do better in the long run, we can discuss this option) and cheaper to buy - we can ususally do several in a day. Medium trees take more time and expense to plant property, one or two can usually be planted in a day. Large trees require renting special equiptment and are expensive in their own right - it may take more than a day to property plant one.

How do I save some money?
We can work within your budget.
No Clean Up OR Leave the Wood
The more we have to move the more expense the job becomes. If we can leave material behind, the job becomes less expensive. Know someone with a trailer who can take the brush to the dump? Or do you or a family member burn wood? You could save lots of money with these options.
Lets Talk About Your Trees
Does your tree really have to go? Or can we work on it so that it still meets your goals? Removing a tree is usually more expense than pruning a tree; and cabling can be even less. Lets discuss ways we can still reach your tree management goals without breaking the bank.
It doesn't have to be done all at once.
Often we get requests to work on every tree in the back yard; it ends up being thousands of dollars. Rather than tackling everything at once, we can usually do things in stages. Lets discuss priority trees and goals. Trees change slowly, most work can be done in small amounts over time.
